The seed rate — how much seed to sow per hectare — directly affects your crop stand and yield. Sowing too little seed leaves gaps that weeds can exploit and reduces total plant population; sowing too much wastes seed cost and creates overcrowding that competes for light, water and nutrients, actually lowering per-plant yield.

Enter your field area and the recommended seed rate for your crop and variety (available from agricultural extension guidelines, seed packet labels, or your local Krishi Vigyan Kendra). The calculator multiplies seed rate by area to give the total seed quantity needed, then multiplies that by the seed price to estimate your total seed cost.
