What is the Shipping Cost Calculator?

A shipping cost calculator prices a parcel using its chargeable weight — couriers bill on whichever is higher, the parcel's actual weight or its volumetric (dimensional) weight. This protects carriers from underpricing large, lightweight boxes that take up cargo space out of proportion to what they weigh.

How to Calculate

Enter the parcel's actual weight, its length, width and height, and the courier's volumetric divisor (commonly 5000 for air/courier shipments). The calculator computes volumetric weight as length × width × height ÷ divisor, compares it with the actual weight, and multiplies whichever is larger by your rate per kg to estimate the shipping cost.

Formula

Cost = max(Actual, Volumetric) × Rate/kg

Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I charged more than the parcel weighs?
For bulky-but-light parcels the volumetric weight is higher, so couriers charge on that instead of the actual weight.
